WipEout 2048 is a futuristic, ballistic anti-gravity racing game developed by Sony Studio Liverpool (formerly known as Psygnosis) and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for PlayStation VITA. It was originally released on 19 January 2012 in Japan and on 22 February in Europe and North America. It is the ninth installment of the WipEout game series and the last game to be developed by Studio Liverpool before its August 2012 closure. WipEout 2048 is a prequel to the first game in the series, and is set in the years 2048, 2049, and 2050.
